• Working in a friendly team of approximately 20 students, alongside Employability Service staff, to support our online and in-person initiatives.
• Promoting, attending and supporting key virtual/face to face events and initiatives that support the development of lifelong career management skills among students.
• Talking to students in your faculty, societies and other networks about employability, placements, and the support available from ARU’s Employability Service – encourage other students to get involved!
• Attending Activator team meetings and brainstorming sessions to provide your ideas and feedback regarding improvements to the service.
• Providing frontline support to students following training from qualified Advisers. This may include running information stands and drop-in sessions on campus.
• Generating content for ARU Employability social media channels focused on employability, placements and enterprise.
• Other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis will be identified based on Employability Service needs.

Skills and experience:

• Understanding of the importance of ‘employability’ and what ‘employability skills’ are.
• Great communicator – Activators need to be highly responsive to contact from the ARU Employability Service and other students.
• Confidence in meeting new people and chatting about your course and your extracurricular activities.
• It’s essential that you have an interest in social media and willingness to create and appear in social media videos, photos and other content to promote the ARU Employability Service.
• Professional, organised, and reliable – Activators sign up for shifts on a flexible basis, so they need strong time management skills.
• Familiarity with the online ARU Career Centre and Handshake platforms is essential.
• Students that are planning or have completed a placement are particularly encouraged to apply.
